You never know where inspiration is going to come from or who you might meet that will change the trajectory of your business. I met this business savvy couple who have a very successful business in Real Estate, Real Estate Investment and Management in the Vancouver area. July Ono has built a multimillion dollar Real Estate Group in just a few years using different techniques and marketing concepts. Mentors come from unexpected places and listening to other success stories provides us with opportunities to apply techniques from different industries to our own business.
July and I share a debtor that owes us both money where we have judgements but have been unable to collect and this was our common denominator. We spent a great evening discussing business, resources, business expansion, business education and marketing. It’s amazing how different approaches in business can be applied to other industries and you may discover opportunities to increase sales or market your business in ways you had not considered before.
Although mentors can come in many different forms, it’s important to bring together a group of advisers to help you with your business and provide honest feedback on a regular basis. Sometimes these mentors can be your Accountants and Lawyers and other times they can be established business owners that can show you what they did to reach their level of success. It’s important to put together a group with which you can consult on a regular basis whether it is a board of directors or people who you Skype or have phone conversations with once a month.
One of my philosophies in life is to surround yourself with good, strong successful people. Your life will reflect your surroundings and you’ll have a better life experience where you are challenged to improve yourself. When I don’t follow my own advice I see changes in the quality of my life. Hire the best and expect the best and push your standards higher. This is no different in business and choosing to fly with the Eagles gives you a better perspective on the lay of the land.
